Kitala Project Gains Momentum: Building the Future of Education

The Rotary Club of Garuga has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to education and community transformation with the steady progress of the Kitala Secondary School Project. Phase 2 of this ambitious initiative took a major step forward between August 11th and 15th, 2025, signaling renewed momentum and collective energy from members, partners, and well-wishers.

A critical milestone was achieved on 11th August when RC Garuga, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Bwebajja, officially opened the Kitala Project Account at Centenary Bank. The account, with the President-Elect and Action President as signatories, represents not just financial accountability but also a strategic move to ensure transparency and sustainability as the project scales up.

Adding to the momentum, Honorary Member Ann generously procured steel worth UGX 10.7 million, a timely intervention that accelerated progress on Phase 2. With these resources in place, site works at Kitala Secondary School resumed on 12th August, beginning with timber masonry preparations for slab laying. This marked the visible continuation of a dream long held by both the community and Rotary.

The Kitala Project is more than just bricks and mortar—it is an investment in the future of learners, families, and the broader Kitala community. Once completed, the school will provide a safe, conducive environment for hundreds of students, equipping them with knowledge and opportunities that can change the trajectory of their lives.

For RC Garuga, the project embodies this year’s Rotary theme: “Unite for Good, Together One Act at a Time.” Every contribution—whether financial, material, or in the form of volunteer hours—is a building block of hope. The buddy groups within the club have embraced this vision, mobilizing tirelessly to ensure that the school not only rises but thrives as a center of learning.

As Phase 2 advances, the Kitala Secondary School Project remains a shining example of Rotary’s mission to create lasting change. It is proof that when communities and Rotarians unite, transformation is not just possible—it is inevitable.
