Fellowship with PDG Francis Xavier Sentamu: Leadership as Collective Responsibility

When PDG Francis Xavier Sentamu stepped into RC Garuga’s fellowship on 15th August 2025, he didn’t just deliver a talk—he delivered a challenge. His message was simple yet transformative: “Leadership is not a title you wear; it is a responsibility you share.”

The evening carried a refreshing tone, shifting focus from individual positions to the collective energy of a team. PDG Sentamu urged members to rethink the traditional view of leadership as authority and instead embrace it as stewardship, accountability, and shared ownership of outcomes.

“Every Rotarian is a leader,” he emphasized, “because every act of service contributes to the vision we uphold.” His words resonated with members across the room, sparking thoughtful reflection on what it truly means to lead within Rotary and beyond.

For many, the fellowship was more than a gathering—it was a leadership masterclass. Members shared their own reflections, connecting PDG Sentamu’s message to their daily lives. One key takeaway was repeatedly emphasized: leadership thrives in collaboration, not isolation.

This redefining of leadership could not have come at a better time. With the Kitala Project advancing, Happy Shilling reaching new heights, and preparations underway for the DG’s visit, RC Garuga is living proof that shared responsibility drives real progress.

The fellowship closed with renewed energy, laughter, and the kind of conversations that linger long after the evening ends. It reminded us that while roles and titles may change, the heart of leadership lies in unity, service, and the courage to act together.

In Garuga, leadership is no longer about who stands at the front; it’s about who stands behind. It’s about how we stand together.
