Rotary and Rotaract Clubs Unite for Green Mission Advocacy in Schools Along Entebbe Road

In a remarkable display of collaboration and community service, several Rotary and Rotaract clubs joined forces to advance environmental awareness among students along Entebbe Road. The Green Mission advocacy event took place at the St Padre Pio Shrine in Kabulamuliro, with strong support from Centenary Bank Kawuku Branch, the Capuchin priests of the shrine, and Roofing Group.

The initiative brought together representatives from the Rotary Clubs of Bwebajja, Garuga, Akright City, and Bwebajja Midcity, as well as the Rotaract Clubs of Bwebajja, Garuga, Akright City, and Bwebajja Midcity, uniting under a shared vision of promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship in local schools.

Students from nine institutions participated in the program: Elite College, Boston College, Trinity Academy, Kisubi High School, Abdu Rahman SSS Nkumba, Madina Islamic Nursery and Primary School, St Padre Pio Primary School, Lake Victoria Primary School, and St. Joseph Primary School Katabi. Through interactive discussions and educational materials, students were introduced to practical ways they can contribute to environmental conservation, including tree planting initiatives, proper waste management, and water preservation. Flyers and learning tools highlighted the ongoing efforts of the participating Rotary and Rotaract clubs, inspiring students to embrace sustainable practices within their schools and communities.

The event also provided a platform for the clubs to strengthen partnerships with schools and community leaders, ensuring that environmental education becomes an integral part of students’ learning experiences. The collaboration between multiple Rotary and Rotaract clubs demonstrated the value of teamwork in creating meaningful social impact.

This Green Mission advocacy project was championed by the Buddy Group Namulanda and coordinated by the Rotary and Rotaract Club of Bwebajja, with active participation from Garuga, Akright City, and Bwebajja Midcity clubs. With support from Roofing Group, the initiative exemplifies how partnerships between community organizations, schools, and local businesses can inspire young people to take responsibility for the environment and contribute toward a greener, sustainable future.
