Rotary Club of Garuga Hosts 3rd TRF Run to Raise Funds for The Rotary Foundation

The Rotary Club of Garuga recently held its 3rd annual TRF Run, a charity event aimed at raising funds for The Rotary Foundation (TRF), which supports various global and local humanitarian projects. The run, which has become a signature event for the club, attracted an enthusiastic crowd of Rotarians, community members, and supporters eager to make a difference. This year’s event was made even more special by the presence of District Governor Francisco Ssemwanga, who graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.

The event took place on a beautiful day, with runners participating in different categories, including 5K, 10K, and 21K races. Participants ranged from avid runners to families and community members, all coming together for a common cause—raising funds to support TRF’s mission of promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, supporting education, and growing local economies.

DG Francisco Ssemwanga’s presence elevated the spirit of the event. In his opening remarks, he commended the Rotary Club of Garuga for their consistent efforts to support The Rotary Foundation. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in ensuring that Rotary continues to make a lasting impact around the world. “Every step taken today is a step toward changing lives, not only in our communities but globally,” Ssemwanga said, inspiring participants to take pride in their contribution.

The run itself was full of energy and camaraderie, with participants pushing themselves to the finish line, cheered on by their fellow Rotarians and supporters. The atmosphere was electric, with music, laughter, and a shared sense of purpose permeating the event. After the run, participants were treated to refreshments and entertainment, making the day both meaningful and fun.

The funds raised from the 3rd TRF Run will go directly to The Rotary Foundation, helping to fund critical projects both locally and globally. The Rotary Club of Garuga has always been a strong supporter of TRF, and this annual run serves as one of its key fundraising efforts. The success of the event is a testament to the club’s dedication to service and the overwhelming support of the community.

The day concluded with an awards ceremony where top runners were recognized, and DG Francisco Ssemwanga presented a special award to the Rotary Club of Garuga for their outstanding efforts in supporting The Rotary Foundation. As the event came to a close, there was a collective sense of achievement and optimism for the future.

The 3rd TRF Run was not just about running; it was about coming together to make a difference and leaving a lasting impact on the world, in true Rotary spirit.
